IPL 2023 Auction: Top 3 Players Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Might Release Ahead of Mini-Auction
CSK would look to get rid of ahead of the mini-auction 2023 to expand their overall purse.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will conduct a mini-auction before the commencement of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in March 2023.
The much-anticipated event is set to take place in Kochi on December 23. Also, there is good news for all franchises as the overall purse to each team is likely to be increased by INR 5 crore (from INR 90 crore to INR 95 crore) for the 2023 mini-auction.
Unlike the mega auction held in February earlier this year before the IPL 2022, where the eight old franchises were asked to retain a maximum of four players, there will be no such rule for the ten teams in this mini-auction.
All ten teams, including Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT), can release and retain as many players as they want, keeping their overall budget in mind for the mini-auction.
However, if a team decides not to release any of their players ahead of the auction, they will be left with the amount they had saved in the mega auction and the extra INR 5 Crore will be added to their overall budget.
Top 3 Players CSK Can Release Ahead of IPL 2023 Auction
Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful franchises of the Indian Premier League has had a dismal season this year as they managed to win only four matches out of the 14 they played and finished the season in the second-last position.
The MS Dhoni-led side has always been the side known for their comebacks as they did back in the 2021 season after a horrendous 2020 edition. In the upcoming 16th edition of the cash-rich league, the Yellow Brigade will look to bounce back stronger and for that, they have to build up a formidable unit.
However, ahead of that, there will be certain players, Chennai would look to get rid of ahead of the mini-auction 2023 to expand their overall purse to get their hands on some best in business.
On that note, here are three players, Chennai Super Kings might release ahead of IPL 2023 mini-auction:
Dwayne Bravo
Chennai Super Kings are expected to release their long-serving West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction. The Caribbean all-rounder could manage only 23 runs in 6 innings and had taken 16 wickets in 10 matches in the 2022 edition of IPL. CSK acquired his services in a mega-auction, held earlier this year for a whopping amount of INR 4.40 Crore.

Chris Jordan
The star T20 bowler of England has failed to deliver for CSK as per expectations. The Chennai-based franchise invested INR 3.60 crores in the pacer to sort out their death bowling concerns.
However, the English quick has failed to meet the expectations, having picked up only two wickets in four innings in IPL 2022 while conceding runs at an economy of 10.52, which is considered to be horrible for the T20 specialist.
After several disastrous outings with the ball, Jordan was dropped from the team and now the CSK think tank would look to release the English pacer ahead of the mini-auction 2023.

Tushar Deshpande
Impressed by his domestic performances, the Chennai-based franchise picked Tushar Deshpande in the mega-auction for the base price of 20 lakhs. With CSK’s ace pacer Deepak Chahar missing the IPL 2022 with injury, the Mumbai speedster was given chances to fill his shoes.
However, Deshpande failed to meet the franchise’s expectations in the couple of the games he played for CSK, as he picked only one wicket and went on to concede runs at an economy of 9. Also with the left-hand pacer Mukesh Choudhary’s impressive show in IPL 2022, CSK will look to move on from the Mumbai pacer.
