Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) might be forced to play their IPL 2026 home games away from their iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium.
After the tragic stampede outside the venue last month that claimed 11 lives and injured over 70, the stadium has now come under the scanner.
The Karnataka government has approved criminal cases against RCB and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) over negligence during the IPL 2025 victory celebrations.
As per reports, security was completely mismanaged, with all 79 police personnel stationed inside the stadium and none outside, despite massive crowd turnout.
RCB’s Home Ground Declared Unfit
Following a safety review, the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been declared “unfit for large-scale events” for now. This means the defending champions may not get to play in front of their home fans in IPL 2026.
RCB, led by Rajat Patidar in the final, lifted their first-ever IPL title last month by defeating Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad. But the joy turned into mourning just a day later, when fans gathered outside the stadium in Bengaluru for celebrations, leading to a stampede.
Now, with legal action underway and the stadium under review, RCB’s title defense next season could begin on a bitter note, without the roar of the Chinnaswamy crowd.
