The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has once again extended its support to Nepal Cricket by organizing a high-performance training camp for Nepal’s senior men’s team at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The camp will run from July 21 to August 3, 2025, as part of Nepal’s preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup Qualifiers scheduled from October 1 to 17.

A total of 20 players from Nepal have been selected for the Bengaluru camp, which will feature intense practice sessions and match simulations. This marks the second consecutive year that Nepal is utilizing the facilities at the CoE, having previously trained there ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The BCCI has a track record of supporting developing cricket nations, with Afghanistan having benefited from similar developmental initiatives in the past. Chatur Bahadur Chand, president of the Nepal Cricket Association, expressed deep gratitude to the BCCI, its secretary and ICC chairman Jay Shah, and the Indian embassy in Nepal for their continued support in building Nepal’s cricketing ecosystem.

“We are extremely grateful to the BCCI, Jay Shah (ICC chairman), and the Indian embassy in Nepal for extending all possible help to Nepal cricket. Almost all our age group teams—men and women—have trained in India before departing for big tournaments. Right now too, some of our national team cricketers are training in Bhopal,” Chand told TOI from Kathmandu.

This growing partnership between India and Nepal cricket took root during a 2024 meeting between Chand and Jay Shah, where Nepal formally requested assistance in areas such as infrastructure development and match preparation. Nepal’s age-group teams, both men and women, have been regular visitors to India for training, further strengthening cricket ties between the two nations.

A source close to the Nepal Cricket Association confirmed, “Nepal Cricket has selected 20 players to undergo training at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup Qualifiers (from Oct 1–17).”

Chand also reaffirmed Nepal’s backing for the BCCI in all its initiatives, highlighting the strategic importance of India’s support in shaping Nepal’s cricketing future.
