UP CM Yogi Adityanath urges BCCI to allot four IPL teams to Uttar Pradesh, citing 25 crore population and rising sports infrastructure.
The Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UP T20) is an exciting Twenty20 cricket tournament featuring six franchise teams from different cities in Uttar Pradesh, India.
The UP T20 League was launched in 2023 by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), in order to provide the young and talented cricketers of Uttar Pradesh a platform to showcase their skills.
UP T20 League Format
The UP T20 League follows the round-robin format. In the round-robin phase, each of the six teams plays against every other team once. The top teams then advance to the knockout rounds, leading up to a grand final where the champion is crowned.

A total of six teams participate in the tournament namely:
• Gorakhpur Lions
• Kashi SuperStars
• Kashi Rudras
• Noida Super Kings
• Lucknow Falcons
• Meerut Mavericks
The Inaugural Season
The first season of the UP T20 League took place in 2023 and a total of sixt teams participated in it. In the end, the Kashi Rudras, under the leadership of captain Karan Sharma, claimed the title by defeating the Noida Super Kings in the final.
