Rinku Singh Struggles in UP T20 League Following Asia Cup 2025 Selection
Rinku Singh, picked in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, scored just 23 in a UP T20 League match on the same day. The tournament is key for his World Cup 2026 hopes.
Rinku Singh’s inclusion in India’s 15-member squad for the 2025 Men’s Asia Cup was confirmed on August 19, but the batter endured a mixed day on the field.
Leading Meerut Mavericks in the UP T20 League, Rinku managed only 23 off 19 balls before being dismissed by Parv Singh, as his side finished on 150/8 against Lucknow Falcons.
The left-hander’s form has been under scrutiny. He endured a lean IPL 2025 with just 206 runs in 11 innings for Kolkata Knight Riders and followed it up with modest returns in India’s T20I series against England earlier this year — 39 runs in two knocks at an average of 19.50 and strike rate of 121.87.
Despite the dip, selectors have backed Rinku for the Asia Cup, viewing the tournament as a crucial chance for him to rediscover his finishing touch ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
