RCB Star Yash Dayal Banned From UP T20 League Amid Rape Allegations – Report
UPCA bans Yash Dayal from UP T20 League after case registered against him in Jaipur; Rajasthan HC denies interim protection.
Fast bowler Yash Dayal will not feature in the third edition of the UP T20 League, starting August 17. The 27-year-old, who played a crucial role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2025 title win, was set to represent Gorakhpur Lions for Rs 7 lakh.
According to a Dainik Jagran report, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has barred Dayal from playing after a case was registered against him at the Sanganer Sadar Police Station in Jaipur. A UPCA source confirmed that the board has also informed the Gorakhpur franchise not to include him in their squad.
Yash Dayal’s IPL journey
Dayal has played for Gujarat Titans and RCB in the IPL, picking up 41 wickets in 43 matches. He was part of Gujarat’s title-winning side in 2022, claiming 11 wickets in nine matches. In 2023, he made headlines after being hit for five consecutive sixes by KKR’s Rinku Singh.
He joined RCB in the IPL 2024 auction, taking 15 wickets in that season. Retained ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Dayal picked up 13 wickets in 15 matches this year.
Legal case and court hearing
The Rajasthan High Court recently refused to grant interim protection from arrest to Dayal in a case involving the alleged rape of a minor girl.
The hearing took place on August 6, with Justice Sudesh Bansal emphasising that no such protection could be given since the victim is a minor.
Dayal’s lawyer, Kunal Jaiman, argued that the allegations were part of a conspiracy to tarnish the cricketer’s image. The court has summoned the case diary and fixed the next hearing for August 22.
