IPL 2021: The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, which was being played behind the closed door has been postponed after a number of players found Covid-19 positive.
Earlier on Monday, KKR mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier found positive for the deadly virus, leading the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore to be rescheduled. Chennai Super Kings bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and a CSK travel team support staff member are among those who have tested positive for the virus.
However, on Tuesday Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra also found positive for Covid-19 and later BCCI finally decided to postpone the cash-rich league.
“The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect,” BCCI said in a release.
“The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind.”
Jos Buttler’s Special Gift To Yashasvi Jaiswal
Now after the postponement of the tournament many players, including Indian and overseas have started moving to their place. While many will leave for their homes directly, few will have to wait a little before reaching home.
Meanwhile, in between all these, a picture has surfaced on the internet which is being appreciated a lot on internet. Rajasthan Royals’ star batsman Jos Buttler has gifted his signed bat to RR young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with a message that said :
“To Yash, enjoy your talent, best wishes”
And a signature just below that.
Rajasthan Royal’s official Twitter handle shared the picture with caption:
“A special gift from a special opening partner.”
Here is the Tweet:
Here is it worth mentioning that ahead of the tournament, both batsmen had expressed their excitement to play with each other, Jos Buttler specially said that he was looking forward to playing with the Indian U-19 World Cup star and said that Yashasvi Jaiswal is a “huge talent”
Notably, Jos Buttler along with Yashasvi Jaiswal opens the inning for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Jos Buttler was in brilliant form with the bat in the tournament. He has accumulated 254 runs in 7 matches with 124 being his highest score.
He smashed 64-ball 124 in the last match of Rajasthan Royals, which was against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Thanks to his brilliant knock, RR managed to post 223 for 3 in the scheduled 20 overs, which Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to chase and eventually lost the match by a huge margin of 55 runs.
