After clinching the series against Australia, team India will now lock horns with South Africa in the three-match T20I series, starting September 28 in Thiruvananthapuram.
Ahead of the much-anticipated series, however, some changes have been forced by the Rohit Sharma-led Indian management into the team following a couple of injury concerns.
Here are the three changes team India brought into the squad ahead of the South Africa series:
1. India’s senior pacer Mohammed Shami hasn’t recovered from the Covid completely and hence he will miss the three-match T20I series against South Africa.
Replacment: Umesh Yadav has been announced as Mohammed Shami’s replacement for the South Africa series.
2. The Baroda all-rounder Deepak Hooda suffered a back injury and ruled out of the entire T20I series against South Africa.
Replacment: Shreyas Iyer has been named as Deepak Hooda’s replacement in the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against South Africa.
3. India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been given rest to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022.
Replacment: Bengal all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed has been added into India’s T20I squad as Hardik Pandya’s replacement for the South Africa series.
