Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith hailed the duo of Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia for their 85-run match-winning stand. Rahul Tewatia was also awarded ‘Man Of The Match‘ for his sensational innings. He turned the things upside and brought his side back into the match.
Rahul Tewatia smashed 42* off just 26 deliveries and remained unbeaten. On the other side, Parag smashed 45* off just 28 balls and remained unbeaten.
The duo has snatched the victory from the jaws of SRH. At a moment, it looked like RR wouldn’t stand before SRH and will lose the game but thanks to Tewatia and Parag, RR registered their 3rd win after losing 4 matches consecutively.
“I thought Rahul and Riyan as a young kid showed great composure. I don’t think it was the easiest wicket and the square boundaries are quite big too. So great composure from Parag. Proud that he could come back in and score some runs straight up. Stokesy obviously didn’t come off tonight. Or top four didn’t fire, but today showed our depth,” said RR captain Steve Smith in the post-match conference.
Ben Stokes didn’t perform well as it was his first match after coming out of the quarantine period but Steve Smith lavished praise on the all-rounder, adding that he brings a lot of depth to the playing XI.
”With Stokesy back it brings a nice balance to us. He’s been impressive, hasn’t he? Just thrives in pressure situations. You bring in his bowling and fielding to it and he’s a terrific player for us,” Smith concluded.
