A piece of good news is coming for team India and fans. The ace opener of India, Rohit Sharma has landed on Australian soil. He will not need to follow the mandatory 14-day quarantine to join the Test squad for the last two Tests. He informed fans about his travel plans and reaching Australia through his Instagram story.

Rohit Sharma had missed the entire white-ball series owing to certain fitness issues. After leading Mumbai Indians to the fifth IPL title, he had to fly to Australia from the UAE with the other squad members. But he didn’t fly to Australia, instead, he moved to NCA Bangalore to level up his fitness.

Sharma, not travelled to Australia had raised many eyebrows in the cricket fraternity. However, BCCI updated in between and stated that his travel arrangements are being made and Sharma would ply his trade in the last 2 Tests.

Though Rohit Sharma has landed on Australian soil, he won’t be available for the selection of the first two Tests owing to strict quarantine rules related to COVID-19.

A player has to follow a mandatory 14-day quarantine period before joining the squad and Sharma’s isolation period will get over after the first two Test games. The first two Tests are scheduled during December 17-26.

Notably, Virat Kohli will fly back to India and will miss the last three Tests of the 4-Match series against Australia, to be with his wife Anushka Sharma who is going to give birth to their first child in January.
