Saurashtra’s left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat scripted history as he ripped through Delhi’s top-order and took a hat-trick in the first over itself at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium Ground C on Tuesday, January 3.
With this, he became the first bowler in the history of Ranji Trophy to claim a hat-trick in the first over. Unadkat dismissed Dhruv Shorey (0), Vaibhav Rawal (0) and Delhi captain Yash Dhull (0) off the third, fourth and fifth delivery to complete a hat-trick.
After dismantling Delhi’s top order, Unadkat went on to claim two more wickets in his second over as he sent back Jonty Sidhu (4) and Lalit Yadav (0) to complete his five-wicket haul in just 12 deliveries.
It was a memorable return to domestic cricket for Unadkat, who returned to the Test side for the first time in 12 years when he was included in the second and final Test against Bangladesh on December 22.
Unadkat recently made his India Test comeback after a gap of 12 years during the 2nd Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka. The left-arm pacer took his maiden wicket in Test when he dismissed Zakir Hasan. He finished the game with three wickets.
