The International Cricket Council (ICC) banned the use of Saliva in Test cricket following the Covid-19 pandemic. But there’s nothing to worry about. Not at least for former England captain Joe Root, who discovered a new way to shine the ball.
On Day 3 of the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, Root rubbed the ball on left-arm spinner Jack Leach’s head to shine the ball. The incident sparked laughter among commentators in the dressing room. The video of the same has now gone viral on social media.

Earlier, England had won the toss and opted to bat in the first Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The visitors took full advantage of the flat track at Rawalpindi as they scored a record 657 runs in the first innings courtesy of centuries from Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook.
For Pakistan, Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, and Babar Azam have smashed centuries as the Men in Green finished the third day’s play on 499/7 and are still trailing by 158 runs. They would be looking to surpass England’s first-innings lead when the play resumes on Sunday, December 4.
