MI New York kicked off their MLC 2023 campaign on a sour note, succumbing to a 22-run defeat against San Francisco. However, they swiftly turned the tables with a record 105-run win over the Los Angeles Knight Riders on Monday, July 17.
Having won the toss and choosing to bat first, MI New York’s decision soon proved to be disastrous as they lost their top-order batters in quick succession, leaving them languishing at 37/3 in 4.3 overs.
Although Nicolas Pooran showed resilience at the crease, scoring 38 runs from 37 balls after coming in at number five, MI New York needed a solid finish to post a respectable total. That’s when the Australian cricketer Tim David stepped up brilliantly, crafting a magnificent innings.
Starting off cautiously, Tim David quickly switched gears, smashing an unbeaten 48 runs off just 21 balls. His blistering knock was adorned with four boundaries and an equal number of sixes, including three sixes that he dispatched off Andre Russell in the final over of the first inning.

Thanks to Tim David’s breathtaking performance with the bat, MI New York managed to post a challenging total of 155 runs on the scoreboard. Later, their bowlers rose to the occasion, delivering an extraordinary performance by bowling out Los Angeles Knight Riders for just 50 runs in a mere 13.5 overs.
