As per the latest report, Justin Langer, the former Australia cricketer and head coach, has emerged as the frontrunner to become the next head coach of Lucknow Super Giants in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League.
The report further states that Langer is in line to succeed Andy Flower, who completed his two-year contract with the team after the 2023 edition of the cash-rich league.
As per the latest report by Cricbuzz, LSG management has reached out to Justin Langer, who is currently part of the commentary team for the ongoing Ashes series in England.
Having guided Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup victory in 2021 and playing a pivotal role in their dominant 4-0 Ashes win, Langer has also experienced remarkable achievements in the Big Bash League, where he clinched three titles with the Perth Scorchers during his tenure.
Meanwhile, there have been no talks concerning any changes to the support staff, which comprises Morne Morkel, Jonty Rhodes, and Vijay Dahiya as bowling, fielding, and assistant coaches, respectively. Hence, it is expected that they will remain in their current positions for the time being.
Since joining the IPL in 2021, Lucknow Super Giants have put up a decent performance, making it to the playoffs in both seasons. However, their campaign ended at the eliminator stage on both occasions.
