“Rahul has not recovered from his groin injury. The Test squad members are assembling in Mumbai today and will fly out midnight. Rahul is not travelling with the team. He will take some more time to recover although he might appear in a fitness test during weekend. Chances of recovery aren’t looking bright,” a BCCI official privy to development told .
According to a report in Cricbuzz, Rahul will be flying to Germany for the treatment.
“That is correct, the board is working on his fitness, and he will be going to Germany soon,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told Cricbuzz on Thursday.
Rahul will not only miss the rescheduled fifth Test against England but he will also miss the six white-ball matches. He was named the vice-captain of the side for the series with Rohit Sharma leading the boys. It is unlikely for the selectors to name a replacement given India have Shubman Gill is there to partner Rohit Sharma at the top.
