Chennai Super Kings (CSK) once again collapsed in the middle over and lost the match by 10 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Batting first, Kolkata knight Riders posted 167 runs on the scoreboard, thanks to Rahul Tripathi’s half-century. In reply, CSK was able to score 157 runs losing 5 wickets and lost the match by 10 runs.
Shane Watson, the hero of the previous match against KXIP, again played well and contributed most for his team. He smashed 50 runs off 40 deliveries with the help of 4 fours and 1 six. Following this loss, Chennai Super Kings have retained their current spot while Kolkata knight Riders jumped to Number 3 in the points table with their third win.
Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and elected to bat first. After choosing to bat first, Rahul Tripathi’s sensational innings of 81 was the bedrock of the KKR innings as he batted till the 17th over. Rahul Tripathi was undoubtedly the star of the match as his innings was very crucial in Kolkata sneaking out a 10-run victory to secure the much needed two points. Rest of the KKR batsmen didn’t impress much.
In the second inning, Shane Watson and Faf Du Plessis once again started in the form but the former’s wicket in the 14th over was proved to be the turning point for CSK. From here, none of the Chennai batsmen, including skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (11 runs), could maintain the momentum brought by the openers. In the last, all Ravindra Jadeja could do was limit the margin of defeat.
