The 13th edition of Indian Premier League has been started in UAE today. This is the third time this T20 league is being organized outside India. Ahead of today’s match between Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, there is a piece of good news coming for Dhoni’s team. Ruturaj Gaikwad who was tested positive for Covid-19 has now tested negative.
The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings got a big relief when their 12 contingent members, including Deepak Chahar, recovered from the infection last week. Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is expected to replace Raina in the playing XI, is the only player who is yet to join his teammates as he tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the reports of Star Sports, Ruturaj Gaikwad will not be allowed to join the team yet, despite being found negative in the Corona test. He will be re-examined within 24 hours and will be allowed to leave his room only if the corona test comes negative again.
Though the India A opener will not be available for selection for another few matches. As per BCCI’s protocols, a player has to pass the fitness test as well. The complete procedure will take at least 2-3 days. Gaikwad is expected to be available for selection after two matches.
Chennai Super Kings was one of the first teams to reach the UAE, but despite being besieged by the Corona crisis, they could not even begin their practice until the first week of September.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with defending champions Mumbai Indians, in the season-opener on Saturday.
