Chennai Super Kings suffered another blow on Saturday while playing against Delhi Capitals. They were in a great position to win the clash against DC but eventually end up losing the game by five wickets. Sam Curran bowled brilliantly in the 19th over as he conceded just four runs.
But in the last over, Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t defend 16 as Axar Patel smashed three sixes in that over and made his team win by five wickets. It was undoubtedly so unfortunate for CSK, that their Death overs specialist Dwayne Bravo could not bowl the over despite being in the playing XI.
Bravo moved out of the field due to an injury. Before moving out of the field, he bowled three overs for 23 runs and had dismissed the most important player of DC, that is, Shreyas Iyer. After he moved out of the field, MS Dhoni didn’t have any other option for the last over except Karn Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja. Eventually, he gave the ball to Ravindra Jadeja.
CSK Head Coach Stephen Fleming On Bravo’s Injury
After the match, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming gave an update on Bravo’s injury. He said that injury is quite serious and also revealed the injury, stating that it was a right groin one.
The former New Zealand captain also said that the injury could sideline Dwayne Bravo for a couple of weeks.
“Unfortunately Dwayne Bravo got injured so he could not bowl the last over, naturally he is a death bowler, that’s the way our season has been going, we are having challenges thrown at us. Jadeja was not planned to bowl at the death, but with Bravo getting injured, we did not have any other option.
“We did well to create a situation where it could have worked for us but we have to keep working hard and turn it around,” Fleming said during the post-match press conference.
“He (Bravo) seems to have a right groin injury, obviously it was serious enough to keep him from coming back to the field, he is just really disappointed that he was not able to bowl the final over, that’s pretty much for what he is in the team for. He would have to be reassessed going forward, at this stage, you would imagine that it would take few days or a couple of weeks,” he concluded.
