The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Monday, September 18, announced the squads for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.
The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav, have been rested from the first two ODI matches, but all of them will return to the side for the third ODI match.
In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul has been named the captain for the first two ODI matches for Team India. Rohit Sharma is scheduled to take back the captain’s armband upon his return for the third ODI.
The omission that has left many Indian fans discontented is the exclusion of wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who has consistently been overlooked by the Indian selectors.
While the BCCI has included Tilak, Varman, and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the squad, and even Suryakumar Yadav despite his struggles in the 50-overs format, Sanju Samson has not received consistent support from the management in ODIs.
Former Indian cricket stars like Irfan Pathan and Robin Uthappa have expressed their dissatisfaction with the ongoing neglect of Sanju Samson by the Indian selectors. They firmly believe that he should have been given a chance.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson himself has now posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account. Sharing a picture of himself, the Kerala batter wrote:
“It is what it is. I choose to keep moving forward.”
Look at Sanju Samson’s Instagram Post:
Samson has amassed 390 runs in just 12 ODI innings, boasting a brilliant verage of 55.71. Surprisingly, Suryakumar Yadav, who has struggled in ODIs with dismal numbers, is a part of both Australia ODIs and ICC World Cup 2023.
