Yashasvi Jaiswal, on Thursday, May 11, scored the fastest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-handed batter achieved the feat in Rajasthan Royals’ match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Yashasvi took just 13 balls to notch up the fifty, breaking the long-standing record of KL Rahul and Pat Cummins, who both hit fifties off 14 balls against Delhi Daredevils and the Mumbai Indians respectively.
The 21-year-old provided a flying start to Rajasthan Royals’ chase for 150, hammering Nitish Rana for two sixes on the trot on the first two deliveries. He continued his assault by finding the boundary rope thrice in the next four balls, amassing a total of 26 runs in the opening over.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is having a standout season in the Indian Premier League this year, as he currently ranks second on the list of the highest run-scorers in the 2023 edition (with 477 runs in just 11 innings).
Rajasthan Royals are currently placed fifth in the IPL 2023 table and have two games remaining in the season after the ongoing match against Knight Riders.
