Rajasthan Royals (RR) were the first-ever champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), lifting the trophy in the inaugural season of 2008 under the leadership of Shane Warne. Known for their innovative strategies and bold decisions, the Royals quickly earned a reputation for promoting young talent and discovering hidden gems.

The franchise represents the cultural richness of Rajasthan, reflected in their pink and blue jerseys, with the slogan "Halla Bol" capturing the fighting spirit of the team. Despite their impressive start, the Royals faced challenges on and off the field, including a suspension, which temporarily disrupted their journey. However, they have rebuilt themselves into strong contenders, reaching the final in 2022.

Suspension and Return

Rajasthan Royals faced a two-year suspension from the IPL in 2015 due to their involvement in a spot-fixing scandal. Alongside Chennai Super Kings, they were banned from participating in the 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons. This was a major setback for the team, but they made a comeback in 2018.

Their suspension period also led to a shift in team strategy. Post-2018, the Royals heavily invested in emerging talent and signed some big names. Though their journey has been bumpy, the Royals have shown resilience, coming close to another title in 2022 when they finished as runners-up.

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium is the home ground of Rajasthan Royals. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and lively crowds, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium is one of the most iconic venues in Indian cricket. It provides a unique home advantage for the Royals, with fans adding to the energy by cheering loudly during matches.

Ahead of IPL 2025, Rahul Dravid returned to the Royals as Head Coach, marking a new chapter for the franchise. Dravid, who captained the team during his playing career, rejoined after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He also brought Vikram Rathour on board as the Batting Coach, creating a strong coaching unit to help develop younger players and refine the team’s strategies.
