Kings XI Punjab, on Saturday, faced a miserable defeat by just 2 runs from Kolkata Knight Riders. It was KXIP’s consecutive fifth defeat in the ongoing IPL season whereas it was their overall sixth defeat out of the seven matches they played so far. The Dinesh Karthik led side made it more miserable for KXIP by snatching the victory from their jaws.
KL Rahul led side was looking in the absolute form as both of their openers shared a 115-run stand in less than 15 overs for the first wicket. But the stand was broken by Prasidh Krishna, as he sent Agarwal back to pavilion for 56.
After his dismissal, it was looking like they can easily register a win as they still had 8 wickets in their hands. But it didn’t happen as planned. They needed 20 runs in the last 2 overs and with a well-set Rahul in the middle, it looked like the game was still in KXIP’s side.
But the hopes of KXIP fans were half-dead as Krishna dismissed well-set Rahul and Prabhsimran Singh in the 19th over. And in the last over, Sunil Narine conceded 11 runs to help their side in registering the vigorous victory.
Fans Are Disappointed With Anil Kumble
After KXIP’s miserable defeat by KKR, their head coach Anil Kumble became the ‘Centre of critics‘. After the match, the disappointed fans of KXIP questioned his decision of sending Prabhsimran ahead of Glenn Maxwell. When the team needed 21 runs from the last 16 balls, their team surprised the fans by sending the young and inexperienced Prabhsimran Singh.
The younger one didn’t meet the expectations of the fans as he played three consecutive dots and was dismissed for 4 off 7 balls. After his dismissal, Maxwell came out and hit two fours during his 5 ball knock, but couldn’t help his team to mark the victory.
Soon after KXIP lost the game, the fans took to Twitter to question Anil Kumble’s decision. Not just this, some even demanded his removal and some even called the legend a fraud.
