The All-India Senior Selection Committee, on Saturday (October 8) announced the ace all-rounder Washington Sundar as replacement for Deepak Chahar for the remainder of the ODI series against South Africa.
Notably, Chahar had a stiffness in his back after the third and final T20I against South Africa in Indore and hence did not take part in the first ODI match against South Africa in Lucknow. The 30-year-old will now head back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for rehabilitation and will be closely monitored by the Medical Team there.
