T20 World Cup: UAE Beat Namibia by 7 Runs; Netherlands Qualifies for Super 12
Sri Lanka and Namibia have qualified for the Super-12 stage.
The United Arab Emirates registered their first ever victory in the Twenty20 World Cup on Thursday, October 23 as they beat Namibia by seven runs to help Netherlands qualify for the Super 12 stage of the showpiece event.
It was a heartbreak for hard-fought Namibia, who started Group A with a astounding win over reginning Aisan Champions. However, their consecutive losses against Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cost them a place in the Super-12.
This also means that Dasun Shanaka’s Sri Lanka will now join Australia, New Zealand, England and Afghanistan in the Super 12 while Netherlands will join India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and South Africa in the other Super 12 group.
The real action in T20 World Cup 2022 is set to kick off from Saturday, October 22 with the host Australia taking on New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The much-anticipated clash between arch-rivals – India and Pakistan will take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, October 23.
