Supreme Court Clears Air on India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Clash

Supreme Court dismisses plea to cancel India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match, saying the game will go on as scheduled.

Protests erupted in India ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 match between India and Pakistan, set for September 14 in Dubai. Calls to cancel the high-profile game intensified following the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor.

A group of four law students filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the contest. They argued that the match should not be played under the current circumstances.

On September 11, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea. The bench said the game is only a sporting event and there is no ground to stop it. The judges added that the fixture is already scheduled for Sunday and cannot be altered at this stage.

“What’s the urgency here? It’s just a match – let it take place. The game is this Sunday, and nothing can be done at this stage. Let the match go on.”

The Sports Ministry had already cleared the India-Pakistan match earlier, despite opposition from several groups. Officials insisted that cricketing decisions should not be mixed with political or security concerns.

India and Pakistan last met in an ICC event, and the upcoming Asia Cup clash is expected to draw global attention once again.
