SA vs IND: Pacer Anrich Nortje Ruled Out of Test Series Due to Injury
South Africa have not named a replacement for Anrich Nortje.
South Africa speedster Anrich Nortje, has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against India.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) informed on Twitter that the 28-year old has been struggling with a persistent injury after the T20 World Cup and will not participate in the upcoming series against India. At the same time, no replacement has been named by the Cricket Board.
“He has unfortunately not recovered adequately for the expected Test match bowling loads and is currently consulting with specialists to manage and advise on his recovery. No replacement will be brought in,” CSA said in an official statement.
Nortje, who has so far played 12 Tests taking 47 wickets in 21 innings, is one of the most lethal bowlers in the world and his absence would be a big blow for the South African team.
South Africa have started their final preparation ahead of the Boxing Day Test. The three-match Test series will be followed by three ODIs.
India, on the other hand have been training at the Centurion after they arrived in the Rainbow Nation last week.
