RCB To Be Banned for IPL 2025! Franchise Faces FIR Over Bengaluru Parade Stampede That Left 11 Dead
RCB IPL 2025 victory parade stampede kills 11 in Bengaluru; FIR filed, RCB offers ₹10L aid to victims’ families
A moment of celebration turned into a heartbreaking tragedy in Bengaluru as 11 people lost their lives during a massive stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were holding their IPL 2025 victory parade.
Following the unfortunate incident, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against RCB, DNA Entertainment Private Limited (the event-managing company), and the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s administrative committee. The FIR has been lodged at the Cubbon Park Police Station.
As per reports, a crowd of 2 to 3 lakh people had gathered for the celebration, far exceeding the stadium’s capacity of 35,000. The chaos broke out when fans without valid passes attempted to force their way inside along with those who had tickets. This led to a deadly stampede that killed 11 people and injured over 30.
According to PTI, the police have registered the case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including:
- 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder)
- 115 (voluntarily causing hurt)
- 118, 121, 125(12), 132, 142, and 190, covering offenses like unlawful assembly, abetment, and endangering life.
Visuals from the ground showed scattered footwear and belongings outside the stadium a haunting reminder of the horror that unfolded during what should have been a joyful event.
The franchise released a statement mourning the tragic loss. RCB expressed deep sorrow and extended their condolences to the families of those who passed away.
They also confirmed that the victory event was altered mid-way based on advice from local authorities once the crowd situation escalated.
To support the grieving families, RCB has announced financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each to the 11 deceased families. They have also set up a special fund named RCB Cares to support the injured fans.
The celebrations were meant to honour RCB’s historic first-ever IPL title, which they clinched after defeating Punjab Kings in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Unfortunately, the memory of that triumph will forever be clouded by the tragedy that followed.
