Ravindra Jadeja Breaks Silence After Getting Dropped from ODI Team
Ravindra Jadeja reacts to being dropped from India’s ODI squad, says he still dreams of playing the 2027 World Cup.
Ravindra Jadeja has finally spoken about being left out of India’s ODI squad for the upcoming series against Australia.
The 36-year-old all-rounder, who played a big role in India’s Champions Trophy win earlier this year, said he respects the decision of the selectors but still dreams of playing the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Jadeja’s exclusion surprised many, especially since he has been a regular in India’s white-ball setup.
Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar had earlier explained that the decision was based on team balance for the Australian conditions, where India didn’t want to take too many spinners.
Jadeja opens up on non-selection
Speaking after stumps on Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies, Jadeja revealed that he had spoken with the selectors and the team management about the decision.
“It is not in my hands. I want to play, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the thinking of the captain, coach, selector, and the management. They must have their reasons for not picking me for the Australia ODIs,” Jadeja said.
He added that there was clear communication and no surprises.
“They spoke to me, it’s not like I found out only when the squad was announced. Whenever I get a chance again, I’ll try to perform my best. There are many ODIs before the World Cup, and if I do well, it will help Indian cricket,” he said.
To win the World Cup is a dream
Jadeja also shared his desire to be part of the next ODI World Cup, which will be played across South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe in 2027.
“To win the World Cup is a dream for everyone. Last time, we fell short at the final hurdle. Hopefully, we go one step ahead next time,” he said.
With 204 ODIs, 2806 runs, and 231 wickets to his name, Jadeja remains one of India’s most valuable all-rounders.
