Prithvi Shaw Flops Again With the Bat, Comeback Dream Shattered

Prithvi Shaw shows flashes of form with two fifties for Maharashtra but continues to struggle for consistency ahead of 2025-26.

Prithvi Shaw’s fresh chapter with Maharashtra has been a mix of promise and inconsistency. The 25-year-old opener, who moved on from Mumbai ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season, has already shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled to convert them into big, match-winning knocks.

In the Buchi Babu Tournament against Chhattisgarh, Shaw stood tall with a sparkling 111 off 141 balls on a tricky surface.

While the rest of Maharashtra’s lineup could only put together 92 runs, Shaw’s lone fight kept the contest alive.

But his second innings told a different story, as he fell cheaply for just one run in a 35-run defeat.

Strong Start Against TNCA President’s XI

Shaw carried his form into the Buchi Babu Invitational clash against TNCA President’s XI at Gojan Cricket Ground ‘B’.

Chasing a stiff first-innings total of 384, built on centuries from Andre Siddharth and Baba Indrajith, Shaw gave Maharashtra a lively start.

Resuming on 47, he reached his half-century with a punch to the off side and stitched up a 94-run stand with Harshal Kate.

At 155/2, Maharashtra looked set, but the dismissal of Shaw for 66 from 96 balls opened the floodgates. Kate followed soon after for 62, and the innings lost its grip at 159/4.

Fighting To Revive His Career

For Shaw, these innings carry extra weight. Last season, he endured a poor run, was dropped by Mumbai due to fitness and disciplinary issues, and went unsold at the IPL 2025 auction.

His brief return with North Mumbai Panthers in the Mumbai T20 League produced modest numbers, 137 runs in five matches at an average of 27.40.
