Pooran to Lead MI New York in MLC 2025

Pooran, who plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, has been one of the top performers for MI New York in the MLC. In the 2023 season, he scored 388 runs at a fiery strike rate and played a key role in MI’s title win. His unforgettable 137* off just 55 balls in the final against Seattle Orcas helped the team lift the trophy in style.

MI New York praised their new skipper in the announcement, calling him “our hero, our ledge, our skipper.” The franchise added that Pooran is “at the peak of his powers” and ready to take the team “to greater glories.”

Pooran Begins Franchise Chapter After West Indies Exit

Pooran recently retired from international cricket at the age of 29. While he didn’t explain the reason in detail, the decision hinted at his growing focus on franchise cricket around the world.

He ended his international career as West Indies’ highest scorer in T20Is, having scored 2275 runs at a strike rate of 136.39 from 97 innings. With the MLC season starting on June 12, Pooran will now aim to lead MI New York to another strong campaign.
