Mohammad Rizwan might miss the T20 World Cup 2024 after sustaining a serious injury.

In a significant blow to the Pakistan cricket team, the wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has been ruled out of the remaining series against New Zealand after suffering a hamstring injury in the third T20I.

Rizwan, who scored 23 runs from 22 balls against New Zealand in the 3rd T20I at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, retired hurt due to discomfort in his right hamstring. As a precautionary measure, he did not participate in further games.

Mohammad Rizwan’s scan reports have revealed that the injury is serious and will take around two to three weeks to completely recover, which means he might miss the upcoming tours to Ireland and England as well.

Mohammad Rizwan, who is considered one of the fittest cricketers in Pakistan, sustaining a hamstring injury suggests that the army-style training given to the Pakistan cricket team before the New Zealand series has affected the players.

Apart from Mohammad Rizwan, Azam Khan was also ruled out of the entire series due to injury. It will be interesting to see if Mohammad Rizwan will recover in time for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to be played from June 6 in the USA.

In the absence of Mohammad Rizwan, Usman Khan will keep wickets for Pakistan in the remaining two T20 matches against New Zealand. The ongoing five-match series is currently level at 1–1, with one match being abandoned due to bad weather.
