Karun Nair Scores 2nd Double Century on English Soil Ahead of India’s England Tour

Karun Nair slammed a brilliant double century for India A in England.

Karun Nair has made a strong case for his return to India’s Test team after hitting a double century for India A against England Lions in the unofficial Test at Canterbury.

The stylish right-hander batted with calm and class, keeping India A in command as they prepare for the upcoming five-match Test series against England starting June 20.

A Timely Knock in Testing Conditions

Nair came in early after the fall of skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran and anchored the innings with partnerships that shaped India A’s total. He added 181 runs with Sarfaraz Khan, who missed out on a hundred after getting out on 92.

After that, Nair stitched another massive stand of 195 runs with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, who also fell short of a century on 94.

Though he had some lucky moments, including a dropped catch on 89, Nair made sure to take full advantage. He crossed his century with ease and picked up pace on Day 2, reaching his double ton in style before Jurel was dismissed by Ajeet Dale. Earlier, Sarfaraz too had fallen in the 90s, missing his own hundred.

Back in the Mix for India’s Test Middle Order?

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket, India’s middle order is undergoing a rebuild. While B Sai Sudharsan is being considered for the No. 3 role, the No. 6 spot is still open.

Karun Nair, who famously scored a triple century against England in 2016, has thrown his name back into the mix.

The Karnataka batter brings solid experience and is in fine form. His performances in England prove his ability to handle testing conditions, making him a strong contender for the middle order in the upcoming series.
