Kane Williamson fully recovered and has been appointed as the captain of the New Zealand to ICC World Cup 2023
Kane Williamson, who underwent leg surgery earlier this year, has made a full recovery and has been appointed as the captain of the New Zealand cricket team for the ICC World Cup 2023, scheduled to commence in India on October 5.
Williamson faced a long road to recovery following a major injury setback. In April 2023, during the opening game of Gujarat Titans in the IPL, he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee while making an awkward landing while trying to grab a ball near the boundary.
This unfortunate incident forced him to take a break from the game for an extended period. Earlier, In an interview, he conceded that the extent of his injury made his prospects for playing in the ICC World Cup 2023 in India uncertain. However, the New Zealand captain wasn’t one to back down as he stayed committed to his recovery journey.
Other than him, the squad stays pretty much as expected, boasting a robust batting lineup featuring talents such as Devon Conway, Mark Chapman, Tom Latham, and Glenn Phillips. The pace attack is bolstered by seasoned stars like Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Lockie Ferguson. In the spin department, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi will be spearheading the attack.
