IPL 2026 Massive Trade! KL Rahul to Join KKR After Short Stint With Delhi Capitals

In a major development ahead of the IPL 2026 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are reportedly looking to bring KL Rahul into their squad through the trade window.

According to sources, KKR have shown serious interest in acquiring the Indian star from Delhi Capitals (DC), as they aim to rebuild their team after a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign.

KL Rahul, who was with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) until 2024, joined Delhi Capitals last season in a high-value trade worth INR 14 crore. He had a strong season with the bat, scoring 539 runs in 13 innings and finishing as DC’s top scorer.

Despite his form, Rahul’s future with DC remains uncertain, and the trade window could open the door for a move to the three-time IPL champions.

Why KL Rahul and Why Now?

Rahul’s exit from LSG came soon after a public fallout with team owner Sanjiv Goenka during the IPL 2024 season, reportedly after a defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The switch to Delhi gave him a fresh start, including the captaincy, which DC saw as a valuable addition, especially having a reliable Indian player leading the side.

However, KKR now see a chance to secure a two-in-one asset in Rahul, a proven batter and a strong leader. The franchise is in need of both.

After letting go of Shreyas Iyer post their IPL 2024 title win, KKR handed the captaincy to Ajinkya Rahane, who was brought in for INR 1.5 crore in the auction.

That move backfired, with Rahane failing to lead the team to the playoffs, as KKR finished eighth with just five wins from 14 matches.

KKR’s interest in Rahul signals their intent to bounce back. If the deal goes through, Rahul could become the face of the franchise.

He would also solve their leadership and wicketkeeping concerns in one go. While there is no official confirmation yet, the trade window could see some major movement, with KL Rahul possibly becoming one of the biggest names to switch sides once again.
