IPL 2024: ‘Playing for Self-Respect’ – Virat Kohli After RCB’s 9-Wicket Win Over GT
RCB thrashed GT by nine wickets in the recent IPL 2024 game.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stormed back into the limelight in IPL 2024, clinching their third win of the season by demolishing Gujarat Titans with a nine-wicket victory at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Virat Kohli and Will Jacks stole the show as they both played outstanding innings, with Kohli’s unbeaten 70 and Jacks’ remarkable unbeaten century leading their team to chase down the 201-run target in only 16 overs.
RCB‘s playoff dreams stay alive after this win. Virat Kohli admitted in the post-match conference that they are playing to regain their self-respect following a subpar performance earlier in the tournament, and they are committed to giving their best effort.
Here’s what Virat Kohli said in the post-match conference:
“We wanted to step up for ourselves, play for our self respect. We can’t be playing the way we played in the first half of the tournament, we wanted to see the ball as well, we are attacking way more, the fielders are putting their bodies on the line, that’s the way we want to play. We haven’t been up to standards so far except the last two games, but we just want to continue the same way.”
Besides that, Virat Kohli also had some words for the critics who have been chirping about his strike rate and his struggles against spinners, saying it’s easy to talk from the commentary box. He added that he has been with RCB for 15 years now and knows what is best for his team.
