IPL 2024: BCCI To Take Strict Action Against Shubman Gill

BCCI is likely to punish Shubman Gill for arguing with the on-field umpire during RR vs GT Clash.

Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill could be subject to penalties from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following his involvement in a heated altercation with on-field umpire and his ball-throwing incident during the match against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday, April 10, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

The incident happened during the final delivery of the 17th over, delivered by Mohit Sharma, whose slower ball, wide of the off stump, was deemed wide by the umpire, a decision that angered Shubman Gill as he believed Samson had moved towards the ball. Gill opted for a DRS review, but even after consultation with the third umpire, the on-field umpire’s decision stood.

BCCI To Penalise Shubman Gill

After the controversial call, Shubman Gill confronted the on-field umpire, becoming visibly agitated and engaging in a verbal altercation. His frustration boiled over as he shouted at the umpire and, in a moment of anger, threw the ball while heading back to his fielding position.

The umpires are likely to officially report the incident to the match referee, who could contact the Gujarat Titans skipper to inform him about the sanctions. As per the established rules and guidelines, players are not permitted to express dissatisfaction with umpiring decisions.
