IPL 2024: Adam Gilchrist Rips Apart Rohit Sharma & Co. for Not Supporting Hardik Pandya
Adam Gilchrist referred Hardik Pandya as a ‘lone wolf’.

The former Australian wicketkeeper, Adam Gilchrist, has come to the defence of Hardik Pandya amidst the recent criticism following Mumbai Indians’ 20-run defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024.
Gilchrist pointed out the lack of support from the rest of the Mumbai Indians team for Pandya. Notably, MI suffered their fourth defeat of the season in the recent IPL match.
In the post-match conference after losing to CSK, Pandya mentioned that MS Dhoni‘s guidance from behind the wickets made a significant difference between the two teams.
Considering Pandya’s statement, Adam Gilchrist suggested that Pandya might be feeling isolated within the Mumbai Indians camp, although he may not openly admit it.
Here’s what Adam Gilchrist told Cricbuzz:
“The line about Dhoni is an interesting one. It tells me that he may be feeling like a lone wolf at the moment. Maybe Hardik Pandya is not feeling the support around him. His observation of the opposition is that he is not crediting the captain Ruturaj Gaikwad there.”
Furthermore, Adam Gilchrist underscored Hardik Pandya‘s remark about Ruturaj Gaikwad’s reliance on MS Dhoni’s guidance, indicating Pandya’s sense of being left unsupported by his fellow Mumbai Indians players.
“He is saying he (Gaikwad) has got support from the back. And that tells me a bit about Hardik’s mindset at the moment. It also shows the uncertainty and hesitancy within the Mumbai Indians as a package.”
Pandya is currently enduring a tough time, facing boos and abuse from the crowd, especially from fans disappointed with him taking over from Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles.
