IPL 2023 Auction is Likely to Take Place in Turkey – Reports
BCCI is likely to organise IPL 2023 auction overseas.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to organise the mini-auction for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in Istanbul city of Turkey, Cricbuzz reported on Tuesday, October 25.
However, the final call on the venue for the showpiece event is yet to be taken with Bengaluru also being shortlisted for the auction. The apex body of cricket in India recently saw a turnaround with new officials taking over the roles.
The report further mentioned that all the franchises have agreed on organising the IPL auction overseas this year and the final decision for the same will be taken early next month keeping with Bengaluru being the second option.
While the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw a mega war between the ten teams courtesy of the mega auction, this year’s auction will be more of a mini version of it. Earlier, reports suggested that the BCCI is planning to stage the auction this year on December 16.
Also, the salary purse for each franchise could be increased from the current limit of INR 90 crore to INR 95 crore, which is 5 crores more than the last year. The franchise can also expand its purse by releasing the players ahead of the auction or trading them.
