IPL 2021: Jos Buttler Ruled Out Of The UAE Leg; Rajasthan Royals Announces Replacement
Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler will be missing the second leg of the IPL 2021, as he and his partner, Louise, are expecting the birth of their second child.
Rajasthan Royals have suffered a major blow ahead of the start of the second phase of IPL 2021, scheduled to start from September 19 in UAE. One of their most experienced players, Jos Buttler, has ruled out of the remaining tournament as he and his wife are expecting their second child in the month of September.
“Jos Buttler will not be part of the remainder of #IPL2021, as he and Louise are expecting a second child soon. We wish them well, and can’t wait for the newest member of the #RoyalsFamily,” Rajasthan Royals said in their statement on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the franchise has already announced the replacement on August 21. Glenn Phillips replaced Buttler for the remaining tournament. The New Zealand batsman is currently part of the Barbados Royals franchise in the CPL.
The wicketkeeper-batsman from Auckland has accumulated 506 runs in 25 T20Is with a strike rate of 149.70. He has already featured in various cricket leagues around the world. Currently he is playing for The Hundred and will soon feature in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Rajasthan Royals is currently the worst hit franchise of IPL 2021 as they have already seen their top players namely Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler ruled out of the second phase of the tournament.
While Jofra Archer has ruled out of all the cricket for the upcoming years owing to his elbow injury, Ben Stokes took a short break from cricket to prioritize his mental health.
