Injury Sidelines Tim Southee for World Cup 2023 Opener Against England – Report
Tim Southee dislocated and fractured his right thumb and were doubtful about his participation in the first few matches of the World Cup 2023
Tim Southee, New Zealand’s star fast bowler, may miss the opening match against England in the 2023 World Cup, even though he was previously cleared to play following a thumb injury sustained during the away series against England.
Southee dislocated and fractured his right thumb while attempting a catch of Joe Root at Lord’s last month. Initially, there were doubts about his participation in the first few matches of the World Cup. However, he was ultimately declared fit by the New Zealand medical team.
Recognized as a cornerstone of New Zealand cricket, Tim Southee has established himself as the team’s third-highest wicket-taker in One-Day Internationals, tallying 214 dismissals at an average of 33.60.
His extensive experience and exceptional bowling abilities have been pivotal in New Zealand’s international endeavours, including three previous World Cup campaigns and his absence in the opening game against the reigning champions is a huge blow for the Black Caps.
