The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have officially announced the schedule for India’s two-match Test series in Sri Lanka. The series will be played in August 2026 and marks India’s first Test tour of Sri Lanka in nine years.

India last played a Test series in Sri Lanka in 2017. The upcoming tour brings red-ball cricket back between the two teams and will be an important part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.

Both Test matches will count towards the WTC standings. India currently sits fifth on the points table, while Sri Lanka is in sixth place. The results of the series could play a key role in shaping the race for a place in the WTC final.

The first Test will be played from August 15 to August 19 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle. The second Test is scheduled from August 23 to August 27 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.

Both matches will begin at 10:00 AM IST, which is 10:30 AM local time in Sri Lanka. The traditional morning start has been confirmed for both games.

The two cricket boards had earlier discussed adding white-ball matches to the tour. The extra games were expected to help raise infrastructure funds after Cyclone Ditwah caused damage in Sri Lanka.

However, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed in its official schedule that the tour will remain a two-match Test series. No ODI or T20I matches have been included.
