India to Play Pakistan on August 28 as Schedule For Asia Cup 2022 Released
India and Pakistan will lock horns much before the 2022 T20 World Cup gets underway in Australia later this year in October-November.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday, released the schedule for the much-awaited Asia Cup 2022, set to be played in UAE from August 27 with the final scheduled to be played on September 11.
Rohit Sharma-led team India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match on 28th August in Dubai.
Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to release the official schedule of Asia Cup 2022.
Shah, in his tweet, also asserted that the much-anticipated Asia Cup will serve as ideal preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup, set to be played later this year in Australia.
“The wait is finally over as the battle for Asian supremacy commences on 27th August with the all-important final on 11th September. The 15th edition of the Asia Cup will serve as ideal preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup,” Shah wrote on Twitter.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan plus a team selected via qualifiers will be part of the Asia Cup 2022. The tournament was earlier scheduled in Sri Lanka but due to the political and economic turmoil in the Island Nation, it has been shifted to UAE.

The Asia Cricket Council (ACC) has opted for Dubai and Sharjah as the venue for this tournament, where a total of 13 matches, including the final, will be played in a span of 16 days.
