India And Pakistan in Same Group for Asia Cup 2023 As ACC Announces 2023-24 Cricket Calendar
Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place in September as a precursor to ODI World Cup.
Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are once again placed in the same group for the Asia Cup 2023, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Jay Shah confirmed on Thursday, January 5.
The Asian Cricket Council revealed the cricket calendar for the next 2 years, with the 2023 Asia Cup set to take place in September in the 50-over format as a precursor to the ODI World Cup in October.
Jay Shah’s statement:

Who will host the Asia Cup 2023?
There has been a lot of controversy as to who will host Asia Cup 2023. Earlier Jay Shah stated that India will not travel to Pakistan for the continental tournament and it will be shifted to a neutral venue.
In reply to this, the former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja said that Pakistan will boycott World Cup 2023 if India refuses to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.
As of now, Pakistan remains the official venue for Asia Cup 2023, there is a strong possibility that the tournament might be shifted to a neutral venue.
Newly appointed PCB chief Najam Sethi’s statement:
“We will obey whatever the government would suggest to us and we will seek the government’s advice when the time arrives, similar to the last time I was the chairman.”
“As far as the Asia Cup is concerned, I will go to ACC (Asian Cricket Council) and see what the situation is and we’ll take a decision that is in the better interest of the game. We have to see what the other board’s position is, we have to play cricket with everyone, and we will not take any step which can cause any isolation.”
Note: India and Pakistan will once again face each other in the preliminary group stage of the 2023 Asia Cup.
