Never underestimate the power of hard work and unwavering belief in turning dreams into reality. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s journey is a testament to this.
The Mumbai sensation has been making waves in the Indian Premier League and domestic cricket for a couple of years now and his determination has finally borne fruit, as he earns a well-deserved maiden Indian Test call-up.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday, June 24 announced the ODI and Tests squads for the upcoming West Indies tour and one name which has put a smile on fans was the name of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Interestingly, reports suggest that the team management envisions him as the number 3 batsman, taking over from the dropped Pujara.
Reacting to his maiden call-up, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that it felt like a dream coming true. Speaking to the Indian Express, here’s what the Mumbai batter said:
“This is a moment I have been dreaming all my life.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal has amassed 1845 runs in 15 first-class matches at an average of 80.21 with nine centuries and two half-centuries to his name.
If the reports are indeed accurate and Yashasvi finds himself batting at number three for India in Tests, he will face the significant responsibility of stepping into the shoes of Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara, a stalwart of Indian cricket in the test format for several years.
