Rishabh Pant ruled out of England Test series with toe fracture, Ishan Kishan likely to join for final Oval Test.

India suffered a major blow on Day 1 of the Manchester Test as wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the remainder of the England series due to a toe fracture.

The injury happened in the 68th over when Pant, batting on 37, attempted a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes. The ball took an inside edge and smashed into his right foot. He went down immediately in visible pain and had to retire hurt.

Pant was rushed for scans, and results revealed a fracture in his toe. The BCCI medical team has advised six weeks of rest, ruling him out of the final Test at The Oval.

While there were discussions about sending him back out with painkillers if needed, the possibility looks grim as Pant is still unable to walk without support.

“The scan report showed a fracture and he is ruled out for six weeks,” a BCCI source confirmed.

With Pant sidelined, the selectors have decided to add Ishan Kishan to the squad for the fifth Test. India are already battling an injury crisis, with Nitesh Kumar Reddy (knee), Akash Deep (groin), and Arshdeep Singh (thumb) all unavailable.

Pant’s exit disrupted India’s momentum just as they were building a strong position. He was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja, who, along with Shardul Thakur, guided India to 264 for 4 at stumps after the dismissal of Sai Sudharsan.
