IND vs ENG: Mohammed Shami Exposes India’s Bowling Flaws After England Humiliation

Mohammed Shami urges Indian bowlers to support Jasprit Bumrah after Headingley

India’s senior pacer Mohammed Shami, currently out of the Test squad due to injury, has delivered a strong message to the Indian bowling unit after the team’s defeat in the first Test against England at Headingley.

With India failing to defend a 371-run target and now trailing 0-1 in the five-match series, Shami voiced his disappointment over the lack of support Jasprit Bumrah received from the other bowlers.

“Bumrah Ka Saath Dena Hoga” – Shami Urges Bowlers to Step Up

Bumrah picked up five wickets in the first innings but went wicketless in the second, as England chased down the target comfortably in the final hour.

While the star pacer bowled with discipline and control, the rest of the attack struggled to maintain pressure from the other end. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Shami said:

“In bowling, other Indian bowlers should talk to Bumrah and learn from him. They should talk about planning with him and support him. If they support Bumrah, we can easily win matches.”

He acknowledged the efforts of Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, who picked two wickets each in the second innings, but added that the breakthroughs came too late.

“Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna picked up two wickets each, but by the time Shardul made an impact, the match was already out of reach.”

“Batting Is Not a Problem, Bowling Is” – Shami on Team Balance

Shami further pointed out that India’s batting was not to blame in the Leeds defeat. The team scored over 450 runs in the first innings and added another 364 in the second, backed by five individual centuries across both innings.

“Everyone says batting in England is tough, but our batters did well. We need to focus more on bowling and fielding. It is very important to take wickets with the new ball. Bumrah ka koi saath de, that’s crucial. We allowed England too many easy runs.”

Meanwhile, it has been reported recently that Jasprit Bumrah will miss the second Test due to the workload management.
