IND vs AUS: James Pattinson Ruled Out of Third Test
James Pattinson, in the squad as back-up to established pace, spearheads Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will be assessed ahead of the fourth and final Test in Brisbane.
Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has been ruled out of the third Test against India in Sydney after he injured his ribs in a fall at his home.
According to a report in cricket.com.au, Pattinson injured himself in a fall at his home. He was on approved leave following the second Test played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when he fell at his home and suffered bruised ribs.
The 30-year-old, in the squad as back-up to established pace, spearheads Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will be assessed ahead of the fourth and final Test in Brisbane.
Australia won’t be naming a replacement for Pattinson as they already have pacers Michael Neser and Sean Abbott in the reserves.
“Pattinson injured his ribs in a fall at his property while on approved leave from the Melbourne (coronavirus) hub following the Boxing Day Test,” Cricket Australia said.
“He will not be replaced in the squad at this time and will be assessed further leading into the Brisbane Test match.”
The 30-year-old was not included in the playing XI in the first two Tests and was unlikely to feature in the third match as well.
Meanwhile, the Australian and Indian squads returned negative results for Covid-19 and will be flying on Monday to Sydney for ahead of the start of the third Test on Thursday, with the series locked at 1-1.
