Ros Bates, the Member of Queensland Legislative Assembly gave a controversial statement regarding the Indian team and said that if the Indians don’t want to follow the rules, then they are not welcome in Australia.
Ros Bates, the Member of Queensland Legislative Assembly, on Sunday gave a controversial statement regarding the Indian team that is on the tour of Australia. Mrs Bate said that if the Indians don’t want to follow the rules, then they are not welcome in Australia.
Notably, the visitors earlier raised issues regarding the fourth Test, that is scheduled to take place in Brisbane. The Indian side is not happy with the quarantine protocols and the life inside the bubble.
Earlier, a source from the Indian side had stated that they would like to be treated as ‘normal Australians’ and that they had provided full co-operation regarding the bubble quarantine protocols. They also mentioned that they fully understand the complexity of the situation.
“We understand the complexity of what’s happening currently. Cricket Australia and we have cooperated at every step with regards to following the protocols within the bubble. But we were expecting to be treated in the same vein as ‘normal Australians’ in terms of restrictions once we completed that initial quarantine in Sydney,” said the source to Cricbuzz.
In reply, Mrs Bates said that if the Indian side doesn’t want to follow rules, they are not welcome.
This was her response, “Well Look. If the Indians don’t want to play by the rules, don’t come.”
The Queensland’s Shadow Sports Minister, Tim Mander earlier stated that the same rules apply to everyone and no excuses will be accepted from the Indian side.
Mander further added that the Indian side had no business in disregarding the quarantine protocols and that they are surely not welcome if the visitors don’t play by the rules.
“If the Indian cricket team wants to spit the dummy and disregard quarantine guidelines in Brisbane for the fourth Test, then they shouldn’t come. The same rules must apply to everyone. Simple,” said Mander as quoted by Fox Sports.
As long as Mrs Bates comment on the visitors is concerned, it is going to create chaos among the two cricketing boards. The Indian players are inside the bio bubble for the last six months and the life inside bio-bubble is definitely not easy. This is the reason why the visitors raised the issue of being sent into another bio-bubble.
