How Many Matches Will Injured Shreyas Iyer Miss in IPL 2024? Report Reveals

Shreyas Iyer has once again injured his back during Ranji Trophy final game against Vidarbha.

According to a report from Times of India, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer might miss the opening matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

As per the report, the batter experienced a recurrence of his former back injury after scoring 95 runs for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha.

Following surgery for the same injury last year, Iyer’s current condition may sideline him for the opening fixtures of IPL 2024.

“It is not looking good. It is the same back injury which has aggravated. It is unlikely he will take the field on Day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the initial matches of the IPL,” a source told Times Of India in the report.

For Iyer, the IPL carries added importance following his exclusion from the BCCI’s central contract list. KKR’s first match of the tournament is against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Kolkata on March 23.
