The opening match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 set the stage on fire as Mumbai Indians Women outshone Delhi Capitals Women, claiming a breathtaking four-wicket win in a sensational last-ball thriller at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
The toss went in favour of Mumbai Indians Women, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who chose to bowl first. Harmanpreet Kaur’s astute decision-making guided her team to limit Delhi Capitals Women to 171 runs, with impressive contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey, scoring 75 and 42 runs respectively.
Notably, this was the highest-ever total put on by any team in the history of the Women’s Premier League. This surpassed the previous record held by UP Warriorz, who scored 159 runs against Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
